AAMC Board of Trustees Names New CEO
Harold Campbell, AAMC Board of Trustees Chair, announced Tuesday that Rich Osmus has been appointed as Abbeville Area Medical Center’s new CEO. Osmus is currently serving as the Medical Center’s Interim CEO.
“Rich Osmus was chosen due to his experience in taking small hospitals to the next level, his ability to recruit physicians and his stability and longevity in past positions,” stated Campbell.
He will assume the position effective October 1, 2007.
Osmus has an undergraduate degree in Marketing Management from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana and a Masters of Health Care Administration from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.
During his career, Osmus has served in management positions at several hospitals throughout Tennessee and Georgia. His latest charge was at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, a 93-bed acute care facility that also included 127 long-term care beds.
While at Hugh Chatham, Osmus increased the medical staff from 17 to 50 which resulted in the addition of several new services including cardiology, ENT, oncology and gerontology. He was also responsible for the construction of a $20 million addition to the hospital’s radiology and operating room, which increased those services by 55% and 18%, respectively. Osmus was also instrumental in increasing the hospital’s net worth by $55 million over his 15 year tenure.
“AAMC is doing a great job,” stated Osmus. “I am committed to continuing the Medical Center’s tradition of caring and to doing my best to move the Medical Center forward.”
